The New Peel Memorial: Help Build Brampton’s Second Hospital

It’s an exciting time for health care in Brampton. William Osler Health System (Osler) is transforming Peel Memorial into Brampton’s second hospital with a new multi-story tower for inpatient beds, expanded outpatient clinics, and a new 24/7 Emergency Department.

About the new Peel Memorial Hospital

  • A new patient tower with inpatient beds
  • A new Emergency Department (ED), built to serve Brampton’s fast-growing population
  • More health services our community needs, closer to home—including new and enhanced mental health and addictions programs, and services for seniors.

The new hospital addresses the significant need for more specialized care for patients requiring longer hospital stays before they can safely return home or to care in the community. It will also help create more space for very sick patients at Brampton Civic Hospital.

When combined with the existing services already operating at the Peel Memorial site, the new hospital will offer many expanded and enhanced outpatient clinics and services for our growing community.

Community Support

In Ontario, the provincial government pays for 90 per cent of hospital construction costs, while the local share covers the remaining 10 per cent that the hospital and community must fund. In addition, 100 per cent of equipment needs – ranging from stretchers and diagnostic machines to beds and wheelchairs – must also be covered by the local share.

Community support is critical to ensure hospitals can continue to meet current and future health care needs. Osler is grateful to work with our Brampton Mayor and Brampton City Council, William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation), and the community towards reaching the project’s local share goal.

Early Construction Groundbreaking

The City of Brampton proudly celebrated a historic milestone with an early construction groundbreaking event for Brampton’s second hospital at the Peel Memorial site on March 28,2025. The event also coincides with the 100th anniversary of Peel Memorial, recognizing its century-long legacy of serving the community.
