City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is thrilled to announce the participation of several standout players from the Brampton Steelheads in the 3rd annual Hockey Night in Brampton fundraiser. Joining the star-studded lineup are Brampton Steelheads’ very own goalies, Jack Ivankovic and Ryerson Leenders, along with forward Porter Martone and defenseman Stevie Leskovar. These up-and-coming players will skate alongside NHL stars and legends, including Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, to support the William Osler Health System Foundation in what promises to be a spectacular evening for hockey enthusiasts and the Brampton community.
The Steelheads, who recently relocated to Brampton starting in the 2024-2025 OHL season, have quickly become an integral part of the city’s sports culture. The team’s move has brought excitement and renewed energy to the local hockey scene, with fans eagerly anticipating their games at the CAA Centre. The Brampton Steelheads are committed to community engagement and development, making their involvement in the Hockey Night in Brampton fundraiser a perfect fit.
Returning coaches Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour are set to lead the teams once again, with Coach Gilmour eager to defend his title as last year’s champion. Also joining the lineup this year is star forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs and fan favourite Mitch Marner, former NHL defenseman and Canadian gold medalist Chris Pronger, Women’s Canadian National team stars Tessa Bonhomme and Renata Fast, NHL players Dylan Strome, Erik Gudbranson, Cole Perfetti, Liam Foudy and Jack McBain, along with Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios and former NHL and Brampton Battalion player Cody Hodgson. The legendary Daryl Sittler will start the night with the ceremonial puck drop, marking the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting third season of this vital fundraiser.
Last year, the event raised $1,000,000 for the Osler Foundation and $100,000 for the John Tavares Foundation. This year, the City aims to exceed that number to further support the development of Brampton’s second hospital. As one of the busiest community hospital systems in Canada, Osler plays a vital role in our community’s health and well-being. The City of Brampton is committed to enhancing local healthcare services through initiatives like Hockey Night in Brampton, ensuring residents have access to specialized care close to home.
The City extends its gratitude to Hockey Night in Brampton’s Presenting Sponsor Panattoni Development Company Canada. We also thank our Changemaker Sponsors Great Gulf, DG Group, Paradise Developments, Capital Power, Holborn Group, Pattison and ARGO for their generous support.
