With eleven days to go until the largest charity hockey game in Canada, City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is thrilled to announce that Toronto Maple Leafs star Max Domi will be joining the All-star lineup for Hockey Night in Brampton 2024. Joining Domi on the roster are former pro defenceman Phil Oreskovic and former NHL forwards Nick Kypreos and Anthony Stewart. Kypreos was a rugged winger who played eight seasons in the NHL and is a well-known on-air personality currently with Sportsnet 590 The FAN. Stewart was also known for his physical play during his 12-year professional career before retiring to work in broadcasting.
Max Domi will be squaring off against his Maple Leafs teammate Mitch Marner, who was previously announced as one of the team captains. This highly anticipated face-off between Team Domi and Team Marner promises to be one of the highlights of the event, bringing an extra level of excitement to an already star-studded game.
Returning coaches Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour are set to lead the teams once again, with Coach Gilmour eager to defend his title as last year’s champion. This year’s star-studded lineup includes Toronto Maple Leafs forward and fan favourite Mitch Marner, former NHL defenceman and Canadian gold medalist Chris Pronger, Women’s Canadian National team stars Tessa Bonhomme and Renata Fast, NHL players Dylan Strome, Erik Gudbranson, Cole Perfetti, Liam Foudy and Jack McBain, along with Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios and former NHL and Brampton Battalion player Cody Hodgson. Joining them are Brampton Steelheads’ very own goalies Jack Ivankovic and Ryerson Leenders, forward Porter Martone and defenceman Stevie Leskovar. The legendary Daryl Sittler will start the night with the ceremonial puck drop, marking the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting third season of this vital fundraiser.
Last year, the event raised $1,000,000 for the Osler Foundation and $100,000 for the John Tavares Foundation. This year, the City aims to exceed that number to further support the development of Brampton’s second hospital. As one of the busiest community hospital systems in Canada, Osler plays a vital role in our community’s health and well-being. The City of Brampton is committed to enhancing local healthcare services through initiatives like Hockey Night in Brampton, ensuring residents have access to specialized care close to home.
The City extends its gratitude to Hockey Night in Brampton’s Presenting Sponsor Panattoni Development Company Canada. We also thank our Changemaker Sponsors Great Gulf, DG Group, Paradise Developments, Capital Power, Holborn Group, Pattison, ARGO and Labourers International Union of North America (LiUNA) for their generous support.
