BRAMPTON, ON (August 5, 2025) – With just weeks to go until puck drop, Mayor Patrick Brown’s Hockey Night in Brampton is thrilled to announce that Stanley Cup champion and former Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf will return to the lineup for this year’s charity hockey game. Fans can look forward to seeing one of hockey’s greatest leaders hit the ice for an unforgettable night in support of Brampton’s second hospital on August 20.
Getzlaf, one of the most respected leaders in modern hockey, played 17 seasons in the NHL, all with the Anaheim Ducks. Known for his elite playmaking ability and physical presence, he tallied 282 goals and 737 assists for 1,019 points in 1,157 career games. A two-time Olympic gold medallist with Team Canada and a Stanley Cup champion in 2007, Getzlaf’s leadership and skill have left a lasting impact on the game.

Ryan Getzlaf is a Stanley Cup champion, two-time Olympic gold medallist and one of the NHL’s premier leaders of his era. Drafted 19th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2003, he went on to play his entire 17-season career with the franchise, serving as captain for 12 years. Known for his vision, strength and competitive drive, Getzlaf retired in 2022 as Anaheim’s all-time leader in points (1,019) and assists (737). He also represented Canada on the international stage, winning gold at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.
