Hockey Night in Brampton 2025 lit up the CAA Centre with star power and community spirit, as Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews headlined a stacked roster featuring Chris Tanev, Ryan Getzlaf, Gary Roberts, Owen Power, and PWHL standouts Blayre Turnbull and Renata Fast. Fans packed the arena for a night of big goals and even bigger purpose — raising millions in support of building Brampton’s much-needed second hospital.

Chris Tanev

Chris Tanev, a veteran defenceman from Toronto, Ontario, is widely respected across the NHL for his defensive strength, leadership and ability to shut down top opponents. He has played over 800 NHL games, beginning his career with the Vancouver Canucks before moving on to the Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars and now the Toronto Maple Leafs. Known for his fearless shot-blocking, calm presence and reliability, Tanev continues to be a trusted leader and steady force on the ice.

Auston Matthews

Auston Matthews is the Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and one of the premier players in the NHL. Drafted first overall in 2016, Matthews has redefined goal scoring in the league, winning the Rocket Richard Trophy three times and the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 2022. Known for his goal elite shot and complete play, Matthews has become one of the most recognizable faces in the sport.

Ryan Getzlaf

Ryan Getzlaf is a Stanley Cup champion, two-time Olympic gold medallist and one of the NHL’s premier leaders of his era. Drafted 19th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2003, he went on to play his entire 17-season career with the franchise, serving as captain for 12 years. Known for his vision, strength and competitive drive, Getzlaf retired in 2022 as Anaheim’s all-time leader in points (1,019) and assists (737). He also represented Canada on the international stage, winning gold at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.
